Car insurance with a tracker in it? No - there is not a GPS tracker in the Progressive Snapshot device, and it actually is kind of funny that people would think that. I mean I get the "big brother" argument, and can see why some people might be a little sensitive about that. But really? If you are worried about a device in your car that monitors what time of day you drive (and only cares if it is between midnight and 4 am), how hard you slam on the brakes, and how fast you push on the gas, but you don't care about the cell phone towers tracking your every move then there is something wrong. Insurance companies don't care WHERE YOU ARE, they care HOW YOU DRIVE and if it is the worst possible time of day for accidents.
If you are a driver in Oregon who would like to save up to 30% on your car insurance within a month, I suggest you give Snapshot a try. The worst that can happen is your driving is not quite what it needs to be (sorry) and you don't get the discount. They aren't going to increase your rate. If you have multiple tickets or an SR22 on your policy that discount could be big enough to make a difference. If you don't own your home, don't have prior insurance, have multiple tickets - this is your chance for a discount - take it!
